Why I started Mary Kay

Well, I figured the best place to start is at the beginning. I started my Mary Kay business in July of 2009. It was certainly not something I went looking for. I was a third grade teacher and during our teacher appreciation week a lady from Mary Kay came to do the Satin Hands treatment. She also offered a giveaway for those who offered to host a party. If you know me at all you know I won't turn down anything free. So, I took her up on her offer. We had a great time when she came to my house. At that point I still had no interest in anything like that. In fact, I had a bad taste in my mouth for that kind of thing because I had a bad experience with another company similar to what Mary Kay does. However, I did later on agree to meet with Debra, my now Director, at Starbucks to listen to what she had to say. After hearing about all the incredible opportunities in Mary Kay I decided to give it a try. Even at this point I didn't really understand what all was possible through Mary Kay. It is almost a year later to the day now and I still enjoy what I do.

In August I'll be going to Seminar for the first time. I'm so excited. I've seen videos of past seminars and heard so many stories that I can't wait to experience it myself. One thing I love about Mary Kay conferences is they almost feel more like a women's retreat with your church friends than a work event. It is always such an uplifting time.

  1. Yeah for you Lauren! Although I was not successful at MK myself, I loved the experience. It's a neat company and they truly want to see you succeed for the right reasons. Good Luck!
